Terms and Conditions

  1. Booking conditions.     

  • A 25% deposit is required to confirm your course.

  • The remaining 75% is due 7 days before the start date of your course.

  • All bookings are accepted on the understanding that any instructions or directions given to you by Ullswater Sailing School staff are to be observed.

2. Cancellation by you.

  • Cancellation more than 4 weeks before the start of your course will be charged 10% of the full course fee.

  • Cancellation within 4 weeks but not within 7 days of your course will be subject to a charge of 25% of the full course fee.

  • Cancellation within 7 days of your course will forfeit the full course fee

3. Cancellation by Ullswater Yacht Club Ltd.

Ullswater Yacht Club Ltd will endeavour to ensure that your course runs as scheduled. However we reserve the right to cancel any sailing should we deem it necessary. This will also apply if:

  • Booking numbers for your course fail to reach a workable minimum;

  • Adverse weather conditions prevail; or

  • Any unforeseen circumstances or conditions arise, deemed by Ullswater Yacht Club Ltd to have an adverse effect on the quality or safety of the persons involved in your course.

Should Ullswater Yacht Club Ltd need to cancel your course we will in the first instance reschedule your course. Should this not be acceptable to you we will refund the course fees you have paid, in full.

4. All bookings are accepted on the understanding that any instructions or directions given to you by Ullswater Sailing School staff are to be observed.  

5. Sailing is an activity that carries attendant risks and we will do everything we can to keep risks to a minimum. To enable us to do this, all participants must follow instructions of Ullswater Yacht Club Ltd staff when involved in sail training. If any injuries are sustained they must immediately be reported to a member of staff.

6. All participants MUST wear a buoyancy aid and be confident in the water. Helmets must be worn by anyone under the age of 14 years unless told otherwise by the instructor. (This kit will be provided).

7. Children who are 8 years and above may attend without a parent or guardian subject to a medical & contact form being completed and, notifying us at the time of booking. A parent or guardian will need to be contactable. 

8. Children Under 8 years of age may participate in a taster session provided that a parent/guardian accompanies them on to the water and remains responsible for them at all times. 

9.  Neither Ullswater Yacht Club  Ltd nor any of its members, trainers, assistants, helpers or agents shall be liable in any way whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to property. 

10.  Ullswater Yacht Club  Ltd must be informed, at the time of booking, of any medical condition affecting the participant, or of any medication taken by the participant that could affect their taking part in the above sailing session, e.g. asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, heart conditions. Ullswater Yacht Club  Ltd reserves the right to refuse any booking on medical grounds. 

11.  All bookings are accepted on the understanding that any instructions or directions given by any member of the sailing school staff are to be observed. 

12. Participants are asked to respect the equipment provided. 

13.  Ullswater Yacht Club  Ltd reserves the right at all times to refuse or restrict the use of facilities. The right is also reserved to evict anyone who refuses to comply with the conditions as stipulated, or who behaves inappropriately or, in any way, causes damage, danger or annoyance to any other persons.
